All united for Amir, aged 3
Amir has lived with disabilities since a car accident followed by a coma when he was a 6 months old baby. Indeed, his skull has been damaged, he has suffered from the eyes and presents motor function disorder.
His handicap is a growing concern because of the impact on his right and left sides’ development: they don’t grow together anymore. Amir is really vulnerable and has to wear a helmet almost all the time.
Department of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Hôpital Femme Mère Enfant (HFME), university hospital of Lyon, is ready to perform surgery on Amir to rebuild his skull.
Covered in this project: hospital costs (surgery, aftercare, etc.), travel costs to bring Amir and his parents from Morocco, accommodation charges.
Total budget: 16 000 €
The achievement in image
The operation that took place on January 12, 2022 gave Amir a reconstruction of the skull and a chance to grow like other children. He had daily medical care and his last check-up was on January 24. Staples were also removed that day. The operation was a real success. Amir will finally be able to go to school and be with the other children. His departure is scheduled for February 7, 2022 in Morocco. He will have to return in April for another check-up and carry out medical examinations to see if all is well.
