More details about this project

New school for children of Bamako

In Daoudabougou, Bamako, capital of Mali, Al Kawsar school has 300 students aged 7 to 15. In this area live mostly workers and storekeepers with unstable jobs so lots of children tend to drop out of school: boys to find a job and girls to get married.

Not to mention the difficulties at school. Indeed, at Al Kawsar, classrooms are made of banco (earth) which leads to lots of dust. Moreover, rusted tin roofs don’t protect from the extreme heat: temperature can go beyond 35° early in the morning.

A better future for Malian children!

Funding a new school with 10 classrooms and a computer room is an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone:

– stand up for the right to education

– help children focus on school for a better future.

Total budget: 100 000€

The achievement in image

Update April 2025: Three years after being funded, the structural work is almost done! It took some time to get the permits and then launch the work. Thanks to your donations, we hope that soon the children will no longer have to study in classrooms made of sheet metal and bric-a-brac, but in a large two-storey building which will also be a vocational school for young people. And another good news: this project was originally designed for 300 students, but in the end it will be 350!
