Let’s plant 300 fruit trees in schools

In the isolated and arid region of Agadez, between the Sahara and the Sahel, schools do not have canteens. The children’s meals, prepared with millet or pasta (see photo below), lack variety, which has consequences for their health (deficiencies) and their concentration in class.

The solution is vegetable gardens created directly in schools by our local nonprofit partner. Not only do they improve the quality of the children’s diet, but they also provide educational activities for the children, not to mention shade from the scorching sun.

Facing the desert, we can plant a green wall consisting of 300 trees together in the 10 existing school gardens: lemon, pomegranate, papaya, and guava trees.

Purposes of this project, which will benefit 1,100 people (schoolchildren and families):

– to give children access to healthy, vitamin-rich, and varied meals

– to contribute to the fight against climate change by increasing vegetation cover and raising awareness of environmental issues among the younger generation

– to promote arboriculture in the region to improve local consumption

Together we will cover:

– the purchase and planting of 300 fruit tree seedlings

– the purchase of agricultural inputs and plant protection products

– training in arboriculture and the remuneration of a local laborer

– monitoring missions for the operation

📢 Reminder: Seed is a unique private family nonprofit involved where it is needed and with NO management fees from your donation

€1 raised = €1 to support the project, and only the project
